Ten years after Amanda Foreman made her debut with the bestselling Georgiana (HarperCollins), she has a new book in preparation. A World on Fire: Britain and the American Civil War will unearth 'the extraordinary stories of the British who fought in the American Civil War'. Foreman's publisher, Stuart Proffitt,was at HarperCollins when Georgiana appeared, though her editor there was Michael Fishwick, now at Bloomsbury.
Foreman attracted a good deal of attention at the time of Georgiana for a photograph in Tatler showing her standing naked behind a column of books. However, a helpful Wikipedia entry (which also reveals that she has five children) points out that she was one of '50 notable under 50s' who all struck similar poses for the magazine.
