Women's Prize for Fiction judges unveiled

Chair of Judges, Kate Williams, author, historian and professor of history at Reading is joined by Arifa Akbar, journalist and critic; Dolly Alderton, columnist, broadcaster and author; Leyla Hussein, campaigner and psychotherapist and digital entrepreneur Sarah Wood.

Williams said: "I am very honoured to be chairing the judging panel for the 2019 Women's Prize for Fiction alongside such an incredible and inspiring group of women. The works of female writers continue to move, challenge and entertain us - as well as open up new perspectives onto our world. At this point in history, the need for different kinds of voices is more pressing than ever, and I'm looking forward to discussing this year's nominated books with my fellow judges."

The key dates the 2019 prize are:

- Monday 4th March 2019 – longlist announcement
- Monday 29th April – shortlist announcement
- Tuesday 30th April – Friday 3rd May (exact dates TBC) – WPFF @ the Baileys Book Bar
- Monday 3rd June – shortlist readings event
- Wednesday 5th June – winner announcement and awards ceremony

For the 2019 prize, novels must be published in the UK between 1st April 2018 and 31st March 2019. The Prize is administered by the Society of Authors.
