The Good Mayor by Sun reporter Andrew Nicoll, which recently won the Saltire Society First Book of the Year Award, is performing well on the international stage, with Scots indie Black & White having concluded a 13th international sale for the novel, this time to Japan. Translation rights have already been sold to Russia, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Germany, France, Holland, Turkey and Israel, while US rights have been bought by Bantam Dell, and Canadian by Vintage. In Australia and New Zealand, HarperCollins has sold 1,000 copies in the first week of publication.
