Business sales strong at Blackwell

Blackwell Online has - without giving any figures - announced strong sales of business books in the run-up to Christmas. The vague announcement may be dismissed as a piece of pre-Christmas hype, but does at least offer some evidence that the business genre, perhaps because of book buyers' insecurities, may hold up in a recession. The retailer says that its top titles are Acquisition Essentials (FT/Prentice Hall), Ideas Are Free (Berrett-Koehler), and Future-Engage-Deliver (Matador). (Blackwell press release.)
