While the Guardian is predicting a battle between Jamie Oliver and David Walliams for the Christmas number 1 slot, at Blackwell's the favourite for the accolade is Mary Beard
Beard's Women and Power (Profile) went straight into the Blackwell's chart at number 2 at the beginning of November, and the following week supplanted Philip Pullman's La Belle Sauvage at number 1. It is also performing strongly at branches of Foyles - though it is not in the top 10s at Birmingham and Chelmsford.
